![]() ![]() War Queens are great combat support units for the sole reason that they can spam war urchins to buy time to put up a defense, and tie up charging enemies so pawns/turrets/lancers have tons more time to shoot at them. Bonus points if you have a few scythers close by for melee defense. Plop that sucker in the middle of your firing line, huddle your best shooters /turrets under the shield, and fire away. I ditched mine completely, but them I was playing with mechs on a tropical map, so high temps and many trees spread fires quickly.Ĭenturion is great for base defense and thats about it. The scorcher & diabolous firestarters are decent crowd control as you noted, but cannot be used indoors/close to bases, because you know, fire. All centipedes are great tanks, but the gunner is the only one that wont accidentally burn your base down or blow up other mechs/pawns with friendly fire. I only keep one on bodyguard duty for my mechanitor as insurance against lucky headshots.įor centipedes, I like the gunner variant best. Legionaires are decent, main thing they bring is the shield, but its small, so I usually have to manually draft & micro their placement. Ex I zoned two areas, "Western & Eastern Flank Defenses" So if I get a breach raid from either unprotected direction I can rush the mechs to deal with it. This is important because you can use a basic group of lancers and scythers as a rapid response force since they can move quickly. 4-5 of them do make a cheap and effective bodyguard force though.ĭidn't know lancers are getting nerfed, but I choose them over pikemen (unless you are using the pikemen as static defenses) 9/10 times since they have similar armor and dmg, but the lancer is faster, and the pikeman has longer range I think. Militors are good early on and in large numbers, but i found my militor horde getting nearly wiped on most raids, with a long uptime to revive them all. They are also good for killing/slowing enemies at the entrance of a killbox/zone and give your pawns much more time to shoot at them safely. If you make a hunter your mechanitor and give them a few scythers as bodyguards, you can hunt most predators without worry of them attacking. both as bodyguards for the mechanitor, and as screening/slowing forces for a killbox.
